About the Journal

Born in 2008, Cuadernos del Instituto Historia de la Lengua has a three-goal focus: first, to collect scattered studies on Linguistics and Cultural issues concerning the history of Spanish Language, uncovering ongoing research; second, to contribute to key issues of current Historical Linguistics via interviews; and third, to inform most recent relevant publications by reviewing essential historical bibliography – particularly in the field of lexis. Every issue clusters the following pieces: A research section, provided by Artículos, of monographic nature, and Miscelánea, of open nature; an Informative section, assembled by Entrevista and Actividades científicas; and finally, a review section under the title of Reseñas.

The main chore of Cuadernos is the history of the Spanish language in a broad sense, from its remote origins until the present time. Therefore, the journal aims at researchers and professionals who are interested in the scientific advancement of Hispanic Linguistics.

Since 2012 Cuadernos del Instituto Historia de la Lengua has been published annually, offering online open-access issues. Since December 2020, it has been only distributed digitally. Cuadernos receives original unpublished articles, which are subject to peer-review. It is also included in databases such as CIRC, Dialnet, Dice, ISOC, Latindex, MIAR, Regesta Imperil OPAC and ERIH PLUS.
