Abstract

In historical lexicography is essential begin to work on
existing documents, on the stories and testimonies available on the text
which present the voices as it has been used in the past. In the case of the
sugar lexicon, to fill the documentary gap of the golden centuries, we
collected what we have called a «thematic corpus» or «modular corpus»
which focuses on the first Atlantic agri-industry. This corpus includes the transcription of original hand-written documents, mainly American
and Canarian texts, involved in trade, commerce and the plantation of so
called «white gold», of signified relevance in social, economic and environmental
changes of the era.
