A lexical study of the vocabulary found in a set of 17th century
documents from the Cathedral Archive of Málaga is performed in this
paper. These documents are called probanzas, a genre dealing with the
«cleanliness of blood» doctrine practiced in several Spanish cathedrals.
The analysis performed is based on textual typology as an essential element
determining lexical use, closely following theoretical proposals as
those by Wesch.
