El glosario mexicano de una madame del siglo XIX

Abstract

This article studies the Mexican Glossary of voices with its
usual explanation in English contained in the book by Frances Erskine
Inglis, known as Madame Calderon de la Barca, Life in Mexico During a
Residence of Two Years in That Country published in 1843 in London. After
the analysis of the Glossary and to find some inconsistencies, it is concluded
in the work that is an undeniable fact that the voice list compiled
by Calderon de la Barca, though brief, must be recognized for being one of the first efforts collecting Mexican usual vocabulary during the first
half of the nineteenth century.
