Discurso e ideología en los diccionarios burlescos: el Diccionario portátil para inteligencia de los folletos políticos (1838) y el Nuevo diccionario críticoburlesco (1845)

Abstract

The first half of the nineteenth century witnesses a proliferation
of works that, under the guise of dictionaries, address polemical
and political issues, satirize social attitudes and practices, extol ideologies
and eventually become brief lexicographic treatises which condense the language of their period. These dictionaries are called ‘diccionarios burlescos,
satíricos o paródicos’ (Álvarez de Miranda, 1984). This work aims
at recovering two odd and unexplored dictionaries of this genre. The
main goal is to show, by means of comparative and qualitative analyses
(micro and macrotextual), the markedly ideological profile of these texts.
