Throughout the Spanish grammatical pathway, the adverbial and prepositional systems have undergone innumerable morphosyntactic, semantic and functional changes which have resulted in the current state of the language. For this reason, Nebrija's treatment of both categories deserves special attention, since his Gramática sobre la lengua castellana is the first of the Romance languages. Establishing the adverbial and prepositional lists, as well as their appearance in the work itself, is the main aim of this work in order to determine whether or not Nebrija followed his own theoretical and descriptive approaches. However, we cannot forget that a grammar is not a discursively broad text where we can study a large amount of forms, so that, occasionally, we will resort to external data banks to ensure the survival or not of the units that Nebrija notes down.
