Configuración del léxico de la química en el Diccionario Nacional (1846-1848) de Domínguez: la remisión y la definición sinonímica como estrategia de conexión de términos químicos en el siglo XIX

Abstract

This article examines the chemical lexicon in Ramón Joaquín Domínguez’s Diccionario Nacional (1846-1848), focusing on the cross-reference and synonymic definition strategies used to link scientific terms. It demonstrates how these tools facilitated the adaptation and normalization of the chemical vocabulary in the dictionary, particularly through French loanwords, during a period of significant scientific advancement in Spain. The results reveal the complexity of synonymic relations and orthographic variants, as well as the issues of circularity and information loss.
