Notas sobre el origen de una construcción aditivo-concesiva. Análisis diacrónico de y todavía

Abstract

The adverb todavía is typically described based on its temporal meanings. In this regard, synchronic examples have been analyzed that demonstrate non-temporal uses, although these are derived from its temporal aspect. From this corpus, cases have been found in which this adverb combines with the copulative conjunction y. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to characterize this combination as a construction. To achieve this, the study first seeks to describe its origin and, secondly, to explore the meanings it has taken on over time and why it has evolved in this way up to recent diachrony.
