Consideraciones filológicas y lexicográficas en torno al Tratado breve de la cultivación y cura de las colmenas (1586) de Luis Méndez de Torres

Abstract

With Luis Méndez de Torres’s Tratado breve de la cultivación y cura de las colmenas (Juan Íñiguez de Lequerica, Alcalá de Henares, 1586) beekeeping literature in Spanish was inaugurated. The absence of a philo-logical edition has caused the work to have gone unnoticed by a large part of the researchers, reason why until now has not been properly valued its pioneering character, its status in the history of science and technology or its contribution to the history of the lexicon. The present work intends to be a solid contribution that allows, among other things, to appreciate the author and the text in due measure, both in the context of specialized production in the 16th century and in the history of the beekeeping tech-nolect. A future overall vision depends, ultimately, on the gradual recovery and analysis of this bibliographic heritage.
