Abstract

This articles presents a linguistic analysis of Basque topon-ymy in the medieval documentation from Miranda de Ebro, north of Bur-gos (CODOMME). This corpus gathers 76 original manuscripts issued by the Council of Miranda de Ebro, dating from the mid-13th to the end of the 15th century (1262-1494). The geographical location of these documents is fundamental to the analysis of the presence of the Basque. This approach has revealed a very little presence of Basque language in the composition of the toponyms relating to the council of Miranda de Ebro, although there are about twenty places names of Basque origin referred to nearby areas, located in the south of Alava, Navarra and La Rioja.
