Abstract

This article presents the concept ofmodular corpus based on an occurrence,
the voice bicycle. A modular corpus is an organized file which contains
the words that are related to the nuclear word. The selection of such
words is based on semantic criteria in a broad sense, for it focusesmore in the
knowledge of the world of socio-historical nature rather than in strictly lexicographical
criteria. Due to the dependence of the word, in this case, with
the invention of the object, sources are limited to magazines and newspapers
of the time. Based on the above mentioned approach this study offers the
plural relational evolution of the word (morphology, syntax, lexicography).
The almost immediate result is the finding of constellations or clusters of
words in which the principle of cohesion is an encyclopedic approach. This
encyclopedic approach will not enter a historical dictionary, but it will be
really useful for both lexicographers and historians.
