Our work will attempt to approach the lexicon from
Murcia used for communicating the needs of everyday life during
the sixteenth century. We will use inventories of goods as a source of
information, since they serve as a repository of the uses and
survivals at a particular time. All documents used for this study are
unedited and, consequently, has been transcribed by us. Finally, we
must not forget that Murcia, and the ancient kingdom of Murcia,
was part of the Crown of Castile and, consequently, this cannot be
understood as the study of a provincial variety. On the contrary, its
analysis will reveal the lexical variation of a kingdom, Castile, rich in regional forms and poor in dialects, where the influence from
Catalonia and Aragon is perceived not as substratum but as
adstratum.
