Abstract

The normal phonetic evolution of Latin verb COQUERE made
him a strong irregular Castilian verb, cocer, with both its vocalism and its
consonantism. The irregular vocalism has remained, but the consonantism
has yielded to the paradigm leveling paths due to homonymic
collisions both the theme of the present and of the perfect.
