Variación léxica en protocolos notariales de Castilla en el siglo XVII.

Abstract

Notarial documents are an important source for the study
of lexical variation that is reflected in the vocabulary pertaining to
agriculture and livestock farming. The relevant documentary information on this vocabulary and also on words related to clothing and
adornments which appear in documents from the 17th century in the
Archivos Históricos Provinciales de Burgos, Segovia y Soria and in
the 1610 registries of the Moriscos’ assets from the General of Simancas
is provided and analyzed. Special attention is paid to formal
variation (lomo ~ loma, ygüeda ~ güeda, güedro, guarañón ~ garañón,
guaraño, xubeo, jubeo, yubo ~ ubio, camissas ~camissiones), to the
interpretation of spellings (garco / garço), and to the relationship
between and analysis of variants (aldilla ~ faldilla, flairego ~
frailero, fraylesco). Some weords referring to adornments (aogaderos,
dijes, mermelletas) considered to be already obsoletein the 18th century
are found in these notarial registries.
