A corpus of notarized documents sent from Miranda de Ebro
and other locations in the north of the area of Burgos during the 13th,
14th and 15th century are analyzed in this essay in order to discover the
uses of the possessive articles. The result of this analysis is a description
of the formal consolidation of the possessive paradigm (mi padre/mio
padre, mi vassalla/mía vasalla, mio voz; su vezino/so vezino, su muger/so muger), syntactic
constructions as the reduplication of possessives (sus primos de ellos) and the double use of determinants (la mi suerte), which are not found in classic
Spanish.
