Casos de apócope en la documentación medieval del concejo de Miranda de Ebro

Abstract

The apocope has been a recurrent topic in the History of the
Spanish Language. After a brief introduction of the state of the art, with
this article we would like to present a descriptive study on the graphmatic
description of apocope. We will focus on the apocope of final
vowels -e and -o in the Corpus of medieval documentation from Miranda de Ebro
(CODOMME), drawing the attention particularly on the cases of medieval «extreme apocope», i. e. the tendency of losing the final vowel -e after
any consonant differing from n, d, r, l, s and ç/z (for example, Lope > Lop) or
consonant clusters (like in parte > part). Our aim is to contribute to the
general scope by studying the linguistic situation of a not exhaustively
studied area: the north of Burgos.
