In this paper, we consider the vocabulary found in the
registers of dowries of the Moors (moriscos) from early-sixteenthcentury
Granada. The manuscripts are from the Archivo de Protocolos
Notariales (APGr) and form part of the Corpus diacrónico del
español del Reino de Granada (CORDEREGRA). We examine the
names of coins, jewellery and clothes worn by the Moriscos and provide methodological procedures to define precisely those words. To
do this, we take into account the explanations and clarifications
provided by the scribes of the APGr. The main problem they had to
face was the need to write down in Spanish the Arabic names that
the appraisers read aloud.
