Abstract

Dictionaries published before the arrival of the digital world are likely to fall into oblivion due to the paper medium. If we add the diachronic component, we have the perfect mix for the accessibility of these works to practically disappear. We believe that the study of dictionaries produced and published in other periods provides valuable data for studying the lexicon from a historical perspective. The proposal presented below is the beginning of a wider project that seeks to recover a dictionary published in 1930, which was the first institutional attempt to compile the scientific and technical lexicon at the confluence of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, a particularly relevant period for the history of the Spanish specialty language. In the following pages we propose the design of a project that aims to recover this dictionary by encoding it with the XML-TEI standard, preserve it and make it available to the public for its consulting.
